Shaker students brought home both individual and team trophies from the Ohio Grade Level Chess Championships on November 20.

The kindergarten champion was Wyatt Eisen of Fernway School. First grade co-champions were Benjamin Robertson of Fernway and Danny Andreini of Onaway. Zane Eisen of Fernway was 3rd grade co-champion.

The Middle School’s David Stahl placed fifth in the 7th grade division and Trey Modlin of Woodbury was ninth in the 6th grade division.

In addition, Fernway's first grade and third grade teams each won Second Place Team trophies. Players on the first grade team were Benjamin Robertson and Robert Desmond. Players on the third grade team were Zane Eisen, Leo Izen, Anno Van Den Akker, Luke Margolis, and Kenny Dixon.

Also competing at the tournament were Sam Mitro and Lauren Woyczynski of Fernway, Benjamin Shafran of Mercer, and Jacqueline Reu of Lomond.
