Meeting & Event Information

The District will host meetings to keep the community informed about Fernway School and also will host events to come together as a Fernway School community.

Join us for the following events:
 
Fernway Community Meeting
Thursday, January 30, 6-7 p.m.
Woodbury Elementary School Auditorium 
Van Auken Akins Architects, Chief Operating Officer Jeff Grosse and Principal Chris Hayward will discuss and take questions regarding the Fernway School site plan, including the playground and parking.

Meet the Architects: Attend a Community Meeting
Participate in one of two Community Meetings to meet the architects, view conceptual drawings and participate in small-group discussions led by a facilitator to provide constructive feedback.  Join us on either of these dates:
  • Friday, April 26 - Shaker Heights Main Library, Room F, 1:30-3 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 30 - High School Egress on the north side of building, 6:30-8 p.m. 
 
Fernway Construction Informational Open House
Wednesday, December 19, 6-7p.m.
The District will hold an informational open house in the Shaker Heights High School Small Auditorium to focus on the Fernway construction project. The project architect, construction manager and District administration will be on hand to answer questions regarding the design of the building, site development and impact on the neighborhood.Light refreshments will be provided.

The Work Session scheduled for Tuesday, October 23 has been canceled.

Fernway Parent-Student Ice Cream Socials & Classroom Tours: Monday, August 20
The District will host an ice cream social to welcome Fernway families to the temporary locations of Fernway School for the 2018-19 school year:
Kindergarten @ Onaway, 5 p.m.
Grade 1 @ Boulevard, 6 p.m.
Grades 2-4 @ Woodbury, 7 p.m. 
 
Community Meeting: 6 p.m., Wednesday, August 1
The District will host its second Community Meeting in the High School Upper Cafeteria to discuss plans regarding a temporary Fernway location. Child care will be provided. Email [email protected]  to RSVP for child care. Please include the number of children needing child care and their ages. The meeting will be recorded for those who are unable to attend.

Board of Education Work Session: 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 31
The Board of Education will hold a public work session in the High School Upper Cafeteria to discuss plans regarding a temporary Fernway location. The public may attend to observe only. We encourage visitors to walk or to park on Aldersyde or in any District lot, including the Administration Building. Enter the High School Lower Cafeteria Door, located on Aldersyde, just past the front parking lot entrance.
 
Community Meeting: 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 19
The District will host a community meeting at Lomond School to share updates and important information on the status of Fernway School, address community concerns and answer questions regarding plans for the 2018-19 school year.
